ARTIST BIO AND STATEMENT

In 2007, at the age of fourteen, I was exposed to Glass as an artistic material for the first time in my life. Beginning at the Pittsburgh Glass Center I was surrounded by fellow artists that were as dedicated to using the material as a means to express creativity, as I would soon become. Over the years through observation and hands on experience I learned the processes and techniques to create glass vessels, and sculptures

.      The majority of my work is utilizing basic shapes to create representations of day to day situations where clarity is revealed. Through everyday life, if we’re lucky, we are presented with moments where things seem a little less complicated. You’re able to step back from it all and take a breath, or feel the tension release from your shoulders. I try to use everything that I have experienced so far in life as inspiration for my artwork. Moments with friends, family, and past relationships all play an important role in what inspires me to create.

Even though I am currently focusing on one body of work I have many more in mind. The process that I go through first consists of spending hours drawing my designs and concepts in order to get them right. After that, I bring my sketchbook into the studio and turn my drawings into three dimensional pieces as quickly and efficiently as possible.
